Divisions HKG Important Change to Contest Rulebook

Publish Date: 2014-02-20

Dear Fellow Toastmasters,

The Spring contest season is upon us, and we would like to highlight an important rule change:

Previous wording:

The following are ineligible to compete in any Toastmasters speech contest:

A member serving as a judge at any level for a contest in which the member is still competing or intends to compete

New wording:

The following are ineligible to compete in any Toastmasters speech contest:

A member serving as a chief judge, voting judge or tiebreaking judge beyond the club level for a contest in which the member is still competing or intends to compete

Explanation from TI:

The provision has been rewritten to make it easier to find judges at the club level. Now, only members who serve as chief judges, voting judges and tiebreaking judges beyond the club level are ineligible to compete in the same contest type.

What does this mean?

This means that a club contestant can also be a judge in other club contests .

This can hopefully help in the job of finding enough judges for your club contest during a packed schedule.
