History of Toastmasters in HK
The first Toastmasters club in Hong Kong was founded in 1954 by Adam Aitken, a Scot native who had been a member of High Noon Toastmasters in New York. At that time, members were composed mostly of expatriates, government officials and people from the upper society.
Up until the early 90s, Toastmasters movement in Hong Kong had remained a small community of only a few clubs. It was in the late 90s when Toastmasters in Hong Kong decided to join the bigger Toastmasters community in the Pan Asean region as part of District 51 that Toastmasters movement in Hong Kong started to pick up pace.

Since then, men and women from all walks of life, such as professionals and university student, joined in and reaped benefits from participating in the toastmasters programs. Many have became prominent members in all sectors of society – in banking, politics, civil services, professional disciplines, education, etc.

Currently we have around 50 Toastmasters clubs in Hong Kong conducting meetings in either English, Putonghua or Cantonese. Toastmasters clubs in Hong Kong today belong to either Division H, K or G. All the 3 Divisions are under Toastmasters International District 85 that comprises clubs in Mainland of China, Hong Kong and Macau.
